GRADUATE SHOW

Some images from my AW12 collection 'The Resistance'.

Great review of the show at justsofashion with lovely things said about my collection.

"The Graduate showcase was extremely inspiring and the students displayed their artistic talent incredibly. My personal favourite designers included Tamsyn Pack for her strong and powerful designs, I fell in love with a black and lilac mini dress in her collection which was powerful enough to sit alone without needing any layering or accessories just as Tamsyn showed."

LONDON FASHION WEEK: A LA DISPOSITION

Starting a fashionable 40 minutes late at Vauxhall Fashion Scout was A La Disposition A/W 2011 show. The ALD collection 'The Utopian Aviary' was inspired by a place of hermitic solitude. The secluded existance of the place is constantly enthralled by the illustrious calls of distant seabirds, which swim buoyantly along the bare shores with cries of birds of prey circling overhead.

The overwhelming presence of such life forms made this collection reflect on mimicking the feel and highly developed social structures of such avian populations, through an exploration of taxonomic shapes and forms. The collection incorporates forms and shapes that were gradually built up, through a myraid of methods and textual arrangements, combining layering, ruffling, pinking and gathering. Constructive measurements and complex compositions daunt the lines of movement, art and functionality in a dazzling display of voluminous pieces, aimed to illustrate the utopia of the enthralled birds calling persistently.
The collection contrasts lighter denier fabrics, pixilated signature print designs gossamer silks, taffeta and chiffons, with heavier faux furs, and sturdier materials. The colour palette was contrasted with a base drenched in a morose base of blacks and dark tones, carefully contrasted with vibrant and shimmering tones of orange, red, and green.

BACKSTAGE

§Last year i worked for a PR company in association with The Button Club at the opening and closing events of LFW S/S 2011. The first event i worked was The Lingerie Collective launch of LFW at Il Bottaccio Mansion, where guests were treated to 5 fashion shows, including lascivious, Wundervoll, MC Lounge, Modern Courtesan, Mint Siren and Velda Lauder. At the closing party i worked both backstage at the shows but also as stylist assistant to the designers Christoforos Kotentos, Tina Lobondi and Nataliya Dilenko.

Here are a few behind the scenes pictures! All Pictures copyright Oliver Booth.

THE GIRL FROM ATLANTIS

OK so it's been ages since I've blogged! I have been really busy with researching and designing for my final collection (scary) and then I've been back at home for a few weeks for Christmas... drinking way too much and going out a fair old bit! But it's now a new year so i plan to be much better and to frequently blog!

Here is an editorial from Alla Kostromicheva by Sølve Sundsbø for the May 2010 issue of Vogue Nippon. I love underwater fashion photography and i think the bright pink blusher here looks just too cool. Maybe i should try an underwater shoot...although mine would have to be on a crappy disposable underwarter camera... :/
